An expert in natural cosmetology for 30 years, NUXE Research & Development is embodied in a team of passionate researchers, a concentration of talent in a variety of fields: botany, chemistry, skin biology, galenics, perfumery...
Their main inspiration: nature. The source of the greatest therapeutic discoveries, nature is an infinite source of energy, regeneration and innovation. Our formulation experts select plants with precious virtues and increasingly effective active ingredients.
Thanks to this cutting-edge expertise in assembling high-performance active ingredients and discovering exclusive modes of action, over 40 NUXE patents have already been registered in France. The INPI (Institut national de la propriété intellectuelle) has ranked NUXE among the most innovative companies, awarding it its Trophée INPI de l'Innovation on 2 occasions, in 2007 and 2011.
Made in France quality
Since its creation, NUXE has had its own formulation laboratory on the outskirts of Paris. The laboratory's researchers are in daily contact with the rest of the teams to bring the most innovative ideas to life.
From design to manufacturing, quality and safety are our watchwords, making NUXE part of the French pharmacy tradition of excellence and reliability. NUXE skincare products and fragrances are formulated with talent and rigor in our own laboratory.
They are then produced in France, mainly at NUXE's flagship plant in Lécousse, Brittany.
Completely renovated and extended in 2017, it boasts high-tech equipment. It employs 70 people and boasts an integrated physical chemistry and microbiology laboratory.
Our vision of clean beauty
Our vision of clean beauty is based on continuous improvement of our formulas, from the selection of our raw materials to our formulation charter, to offer the best balance between naturalness, efficacy, sensoriality and environmental footprint, without compromising on safety.
We rigorously select our raw materials in compliance with European regulations (1). Among other things, these list all substances banned or restricted for use in cosmetics.
Over and above these regulations, our team of specialists (toxicologists, regulatory experts, ingredient experts, formulators, etc.) carry out strict checks on each raw material (supplier reliability and transparency, geographical origin and method of production, purity, safety, etc.) to assess whether it complies with our clean beauty commitments and thus authorize its use, or not. Great attention is paid to the environmental impact of our natural active ingredients, from sourcing to extraction, in line with our commitments to help preserve the planet.
A strict formulation charter
After selecting the raw materials, we follow a strict clean beauty formulation charter. The number of ingredients in our formulas is optimized to offer you effectiveness and sensoriality, while avoiding anything superfluous. The naturalness of our formulas is also maximized.
Here are the ingredients we prefer:
- Active ingredients of natural origin: plant extracts obtained by environmentally-friendly green processes. We exclude the use of raw materials of animal origin (except beehive products).
- 100% vegetable oils: we use vegetable oils, for which we have pioneering expertise and which have become one of our "trademarks", so convinced are we of their benefits for the skin.
- Glycerin: ideal for moisturizing the skin, the glycerin we use is exclusively of plant origin.
- Texturizing agents: they contribute to the pleasure of use, modulating the sensoriality of the touch. We prefer vegetable oils, waxes and butters.
- Emulsifiers: in controlled quantities, these components, mostly of natural origin, bind ingredients together to form a stable, uniform mixture (an emulsion).
- Perfumes: NUXE creates its made-to-measure perfumes in collaboration with the noses of France's leading perfume houses. These olfactory imprints are true sensory signatures that make our products addictive. Over and above European regulations and the standards set by the IFRA (International Fragrance Association), we follow a strict internal charter. Our certified ORGANIC products feature fragrances of 100% natural origin.
- Preservatives: of natural or synthetic origin, they are essential to prevent the development of micro-organisms throughout the life of the product. We choose them with great care to guarantee skin tolerance and safety.
- Sun filters: to guarantee broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays, our NUXE Sun formulas combine a rigorous selection of just 3 filters.

Systematic assessments to guarantee effectiveness and safety
Our products follow a strict validation protocol before they reach your bathroom.
Rigorous selection of raw materials
Each product is the subject of a safety assessment report carried out by an independent toxicology expert, in accordance with regulations. This analysis takes into account each ingredient in the formula, its concentration, scientific data relating to its use on the skin, and the conditions of use of the final product. The expert then commits to the perfect safety of use of the product on the market. Our very low cosmetovigilance rate testifies to the excellent tolerance of our products.
They are also subjected to safety tests, followed by use tests carried out under dermatological supervision by independent laboratories approved by the French Ministry of Research. We complete this analysis with large-scale consumer tests (between 60 and 100 volunteers).
All these results are compiled in the Product Information File, available to the regulatory authorities (ANSM and DGCCRF)(2) as required by law.
